Whether its a back ache or a tooth ache or getting lemon juice in a ripped cuticle.
Pain sucks. I’ve thrown up from pain. I’ve passed out from pain. I’ve seen my dad throw a dentist into a wall because of pain (I didn’t exactly see it, I was in the waiting room) I heard the thump. Then I saw the poor guy, shortly after that I heard the sirens. It happened, believe me. Anyway…
Whether its sharp, shooting, dull, aching, strong, burning, or a stabbing pain. It sucks.
Here’s a question…why do we feel pain? I get the laws of prevention. You put your hand on a flame, it burns, you remove it. You fall on your arm & break it - you better go to the doctor to get it set or a cast.
I’m talking about the type of pain that just is downright stupid - the hangnail, the headache, jaw pain, a pulled muscle, a torn ligament. I mean what the hell? #1 the Dr. can’t do anything about it. #2 it’s not bad enough for surgery BUT bad enough to keep you on your ass for 6 weeks. #3 let’s get doped up until you start running into walls stubbing your toe (another dumbass type of pain) #4 it stops you in your tracks & pretty soon, your throwing poor people into walls.
My grandma used to say to me “I wish I could take your pain away for 1 day” that was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.
Pain changes people - never for the good. You either end up to be known as a “Complainer” or bitter, depressed, angry, sad, withdrawn or just bitchy.
People are curious at first, even sympathetic. But once the bruises heal, the cast comes off, surgery is over, swelling goes down or it’s just been awhile since it started - people loose their patience with your pain. After the first time you smile or laugh… “Well, she must be pain free”
Whether you have a high pain tolerance or you need to stay home over a toothache - I’m sorry.
If I could take your pain for a day, I would.
